Hi! We are Natalia, Bel and Pamela. We are 3 friends from Chile living in Vancouver, BC. We come from different fields of work, such as Social Work and Design. We got together at AWAYU with the motivation to share a part of our original culture in Canada.

In AWAYU you will find Tote Bags and Zipper Pouches made by urban indigenous creators in Chile, inspired by the Andean cultures. Also, you will find original sneakers, made in Peru, inspired by the colors, landscapes, festivals, and different places from South America.

"Awayu" in Aymara language (“Aguayo” in Spanish) is a rectangular carrying cloth used in traditional communities in the Andes region of South America, in countries as Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, and Peru.

We chose this concept not only because of the importance of aguayo fabrics but also because it represents the effort to carry and move, the strength of work, and women’s lifestyle.
